Turkish Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey and has its Headquarter in Turkish Airlines General Management Building in Istanbul, the largest city of turkey. It was also chosen as the official carrier by Europe’s leading football clubs like FC Barcelona, Manchester United etc.

The airline company was established on 20th May’1933 as State Airlines Administration under country’s Defense Ministry. Later on it was handed over to Ministry of Public Works in 1935 and then it became part of Ministry of Transportation. Initially, working as domestic Carrier, Turkish Airline Company started international services also.
Initially, it was having a reputation of poor customer services and delays and it also faced accidents and hijacking incidents. The new government in Turkey which came to power in 1983 started strengthening it and as a result, it had a fleet of 30 aircrafts within 3-4 years. The government has handled the management of Turkish Airlines quite well; and the airline continued to grow in spite of various odds. Ultimately, it reached to a situation where it has more than 200 destinations.
